Understanding your Rivervo invoice.

What each line item means, why prorated charges look funny, and where to download invoices for your accountant.

3 MIN READ

Hosting invoices can be confusing. Here's how to read yours.

Where to find invoices

Panel → Billing → Invoices.

Each invoice has:

  • Invoice number — sequential, used for accounting reference
  • Date — when the charge happened
  • Amount — total billed, in your currency
  • Status — Paid, Pending, Failed
  • Download PDF — for your records / accountant

Common line items

Hosting plan

Rapids hosting (monthly) $12.50

Recurring monthly or annual fee for your hosting plan.

Domain registration

yourdomain.com (1 year) $9.00

Annual or multi-year domain fee. Price matches what was shown at registration.

VPS

Stream VPS (monthly) $19.99

Monthly fee for the VPS sized at sign-up.

Add-on services

SSL certificate (premium) $8.00
Daily backup retention upgrade $5.00

Optional features you opted into.

Prorated charges

When you upgrade mid-cycle, the invoice has TWO line items:

Stream hosting (Apr 15-30) -$8.00 (refund of unused portion)
Rapids hosting (Apr 15-30) +$12.00 (new plan, prorated to month-end)
                                 ─────
                                 +$4.00 (you pay this difference)

Why two lines: Paddle (our payment processor) shows you full transparency — the credit for what you didn't use, and the new charge.

The "credit" amount sometimes is positive on a downgrade — you get money back to your wallet balance.

Multi-year discounts

Rapids hosting (annual, 3 years) $375.00
                                  -$60.00 (3-year discount)
                                  ────────
                                  $315.00

Multi-year terms get a discount. Listed line-by-line for clarity.

Tax

If your country requires VAT/GST, it's added as a separate line:

Subtotal: $12.50
VAT (20%): $2.50
Total: $15.00

Tax rates depend on your billing country. Paddle (our merchant of record) handles VAT collection and remittance automatically.

Failed payment

If the charge fails (expired card, insufficient funds, bank declined), invoice shows status Failed and we email you. We retry the charge:

  • Day 1: original attempt
  • Day 4: retry
  • Day 7: retry
  • Day 14: final retry; service suspended if this fails

Update your card in Panel → Billing → Payment Methods before day 14 to avoid suspension.

Refunds

Refunds appear as negative line items on a new invoice:

Refund: Rapids hosting -$12.50

Funds return to your original card within 5‑10 business days.

Wallet balance

Refunds, prorated credits, and affiliate earnings can go to your Wallet instead of your card. Use the wallet balance for future purchases.

Panel → Billing → Wallet shows current balance and history.

Annual vs monthly

If you're on monthly, you see invoices monthly. If annual, you see them yearly with a single big charge.

You can change billing cycle in Panel → Hosting → [your plan] → Change Billing Cycle. Annual usually gets you 17%+ discount over 12 months of monthly charges.

Tax invoices for accounting

For accountants, the PDF download includes:

  • Your billing details
  • Rivervo / Paddle company info (Paddle is the merchant of record)
  • VAT number (yours and ours)
  • Itemized line items
  • Tax breakdown

If your accountant needs additional info, open a ticket and we can provide custom invoice formats.

Old invoices

We keep all invoices indefinitely. Even from years ago — they're available in Panel → Billing → Invoices with date filtering.

If you've deleted your account but need an invoice from before, contact us with the email address used for the old account.
