Billing for applications.

How resources, the 3-day trial, traffic, extra instances and object storage appear on your bill, how resource changes are prorated, and the monthly spending limit.

3 MIN READ

Applications are billed per project: one monthly payment covers the main application and every service of the project. There are no plans to outgrow — you pay for the resources you set, and a few usage items only if you go beyond what's included.

Resources — the monthly price

Every service — the application itself, workers, scheduled jobs, web services, databases, Valkey, read replicas — is priced by its own resources:

ResourcePrice a month
Memory$6 per GB
CPU$4 per core
Disk10 GB included per GB of memory, then $0.15 per GB

Examples: 512 MB, 1 core and 5 GB — $7; 1 GB, 1 core and 10 GB — $10; 2 GB, 2 cores and 20 GB — $20.

The Overview shows the Project total. Branch previews are included and cost nothing extra.

Changing resources

New resources apply at once. The difference for the rest of the current month is prorated: a larger size is charged for the remaining days now; for a smaller one, the unused difference is credited to your next payments. From then on the new monthly price applies.

The free trial

Your first application comes with a 3-day free trial. You add your card when you launch it; the card is not charged during the trial, and the first monthly payment is taken when the trial ends. Services you add during the trial are free until it ends, then they are part of the monthly price.

The trial is offered once per account.

Usage beyond what's included

Three items are counted by use. Each calendar month (UTC) is counted on the 1st of the next month and added to the project's next payment as a separate line — there is nothing to pay in between.

ItemIncludedBeyond it
Traffic to the internet500 GB per project a month$0.05 per GB (a started GB counts)
Extra instances with automatic scalingthe minimum number of instanceseach instance-hour above the minimum: the service's monthly price ÷ 730
Object storage—$0.025 per GB a month stored; $6 per million writes, $0.50 per million reads; traffic free

Traffic speed is never limited. Only data sent to the internet counts — traffic between the services of a project is free. We let you know at 80% and at 100% of the included volume; the Monitoring tab shows the details.

Extra instances in a fixed number are not usage: each one is part of the monthly price, like the service itself. See Instances and automatic scaling.

The spending limit

Settings → Spending this month shows what the project is expected to cost this month at its current resources, with the traffic over the included volume so far. It is an estimate for the calendar month; the amounts on your invoices are what counts.

Set a limit — a monthly amount in US dollars (at least $1) — and choose what happens when the limit is reached:

  • Only notify me — everything keeps running as it is.
  • Notify me and pause extra usage — your applications keep running with the resources you set; usage beyond them (extra instances, scaling) waits until next month or until you raise the limit.

We write to you at 80% and at 100% of the limit. A limit never stops what is running. Setting the limit is available to the account owner and the application's Administrators.

Payments and invoices

Payments are made by card through Paddle, our payment provider. Every payment is listed under Payments → Payment history, with an invoice to download — see Understanding your invoice.

If a payment does not go through and the application is stopped, update the card in Payments — the application starts again by itself.
